For those attending the Texas State Democratic  Convention

There will be at least one more meeting of the full delegation before the Convention.  In the interim,   you will enjoy a power point presentation (below)

on what to expect at the State Convention.

We’ve gone over most of this info in our meetings, but this is a good way to have a concise presentation so that you can use it as a review, or possibly catch something that was missed.

Please be advised that if you are unable to attend ANY of our meetings,  you are will still be seated as a delegate or alternate.  There are no requirements   that you attend any of these meetings.  The meetings are strictly informational only.  Your only responsibility is to be familiar with the Rules of The Party as they relate to the State Convention, so that you can maximize your participation in the process.

If you haven’t already made your hotel reservations,  time is running out.  The Kick-Off Reception and the Blue Star Breakfast are both SOLD OUT.   Tickets are in high demand, so if you’ve purchased tickets that you now find you can’t use because of the guest restrictions,  please let me know. There are many folks looking for tickets, and if you have extras we can make everyone happy.  Just send me an email if 1) you want a ticket, or 2) if you have an extra ticket(s) that you won’t be using.  If you have made your housing reservations,  please let either Cassie Anderson (Obama), or Norma Dermenjian (Clinton) know where you’re staying, your cell phone, etc.  We will have a spreadsheet with everyone’s info so that we can find you during the convention.  You may need to be contacted with important information and it will help if we have that info.

Delegates will be seated. Alternates will be seated.  Guests need to register for guest passes which are issued by the State Party through a lottery;  are only good for one day, and are NON-TRANSFERABLE.  Volunteers can sign up to volunteer through the TDP website.

In the next day or so,  an email which will explain the voting procedures will be sent to you.  There was some questions about the voting processes last night, and possibly everyone didn’t quite understand how it’s going to work.  Once I get Mr. Baker’s sign off on that (to make sure we’re all on the same page),  I’ll be sending that out to everyone.  I think it will clear up a lot of questions.

Thanks for your participation, and I hope you all take some time to read the rules that will govern the State Convention.  You can find them at the following location:  http://www.txdemocrats.org/the_party/tdp_rules/

Also,  keep checking the State Party’s website which focuses on the convention;  http://www.txdemocrats.org/277

There’s always updates, and important information that you need to know.

As always,  I remain available by phone, or email, or even if you want to meet, to discuss any questions, problems, or issues you may have regarding the State Convention.

May 10, is election day, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.    www.MontgomeryVotes.org lists all early voting and election day polling locations.  You may enter your name/birthdate or voter registration certificate onto the Voter Registration Database Search page and view your Sample Ballot to see which elections you are eligible to vote for.  There are a few county voting precincts in which we are not conducting any elections and that information is also on the above website.

        No Constitutional
            Amendment

There are emails being circulated which encourage voters to vote for a constitutional amendment for a homestead exemption for the elderly and disabled. That constitutional  amendment was passed in May, 2007, and there are not any constitutional amendments on the May 10 ballot.
